But would you mind elaborating on the proposed AUTU?
I think we want an Act that is drawn specially for Universities and other higher institutions because this act will give the university authorities more prerogative/privileges and autonomy to decide on many issues pertaining to student admission, organizational structure, administrative and teaching staffs, so that it'll cater to their needs and allow them to create a dynamic and adaptive and versatile learning environment.
If the Act works otherwise (only to place more restrictions on the universities), it's redundant to have it because the existing acts that apply to other organizations are sufficient to govern the universities.
In an era when globalization is taking place and all universities fight for the same talents, brain gain and brain drain will all interconnect to form complex functions. A suppressive Act (whether UUCA or AUTU) will be the last thing we want.Mei Sanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06781930190681216216noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3546691335912075503.post-67607433228666932282008-12-13T14:40:00.000+08:002008-12-13T14:40:00.000+08:00YB said: "In my debate on the bill, I have raised ...YB said:

"In my debate on the bill, I have raised up the issue regarding the definition of “student” where in the new definition mean all registered students in universities including those at the post-graduate and post-doctoral level on a full time or part-time basis. This means that if a Member of Parliament applies to take up post-graduate courses in our universities, he or she must get the approval from the Vice Chancellor. Isn’t this in contradiction with the MCA’s lifelong learning program which encourages one to continue their studies no matter how high is their positions?"
===========================
I think maybe an amendment to this bill should clearly state that "All Registered Voter is free to join any Political Groupings without any impediments from all quarters". Hence, if you are an eligible voter, you are able to become active in politics regardless whether you are student or otherwise.

P130 voterAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3546691335912075503.post-79215615175748582042008-12-13T11:44:00.000+08:002008-12-13T11:44:00.000+08:00MCA politicians are basically with an mentality/at...MCA politicians are basically with an mentality/attitude "WHAT IS IT IN FOR ME".
